How to Create a Simple, Perfect Aquarium with NO Failure! #aquarium

Saturday, 23 March 2024

Used to paint a lot of these type of old watercolours back in the 1990s for a gallery in Bradford Yorkshire.  The owner of the gallery must have had a lot of contacts as , as soon as I dropped them of they were not seen again, at least by me anyway. They were painted on a good quality watercolour paper 9 ( A4 ) size so quite small but they paid around £50 mark , I painted 4 per week so quite a nice payout.

This painting is after 18th Century watercolour artist John Varley OSW.

Astley Bridge runs over the Bridgewater canal into Astley Green. The bridge is of steel construction and painted in a pale bluey green colour which looks quite nice looking from the canal towpath.

Watercolour number 2

The second in my watercolour venture, I painted this one in Acrylics earlier this year and thought I would now paint it with watercolour. I think I am having a problem with trying to paint watercolour the same as I would do in acrylics.

As you can see, it did not go right from the start, a lot of lifting out and then putting back, not easy in watercolour but, I thing it turned out pretty good considering what this poor paper went through.

I have a lot to learn about this medium, but, loving the journey so far..

Watercolour Painting : No title as yet

After many years of painting in Acrylics, I thought I would make a return to watercolour ! .

As everyone knows, watercolour is about the hardest medium to paint with but I just had to use this fascinating medium again.

Paints I used are the W & N Cotman paints, sure there are many makes that are probably better but Cotman paints are of very good quality with fantastic light fastness meaning they should last for years.

So , hear we are, the one below is one of my first in this new exciting medium . Not title as of now .

So, I think it turned out quite good. Will the next one be as good, hope so but you can never tell.

Just love this painting

Cissy & Aida walk in the woods

Very similar to the one below but much looser, Cissy & Aider seem to becoming a bit of a series as they have both been involved in other  painting I have just done.

HAHA, Cissy & Aider,, love it.

This sort of theme / style looks like it is the first painting style of mine, I really enjoy painting this way.

 Great Fun !

Been away for quite sometime but yes and a big yes I am still painting !!. Must admit I have not sold for a year or so maybe longer but for some reason 0 sales,

I did sell quite a lot on ArtGallery.co.uk but unbeknown to me everything seems to have gone really quiet there, I did add some new paintings there but before they go live they go through what they call assessment and shows as pending, this used to take a day top side so after my work was pending for a few days I gave up on them . I did google this and found many more artists having the same sort of problem.

Also been using Etsy , had a shop there for 2 years but refused to give free postage to the USA from the UK so my listings never show up on any of the painting pages so how the heck am I going to sell! . Well Ebay of all places never fails to get traffic to one's work , Ebay was the first ever place I sold a painting and is OK if you don't expect to make a fortune you can turn out quite a some if you stick at it, I remember after a month or so on Ebay my paypal account looked quite healthy .

Looks like Ebay then ............I will let you know how it goes in a few weeks.

For now and as they said on Blue Peter when I was a lad........here's on I did earlier ..

Don't know where it is I just made it up as I went along
Whit nothing to go on I don't think it turned out to bad.
