The approach channel to Bugsworth Basin looking towards Teapot Row.

The row of cottages fronting onto the towpath is called Teapot Row, allegedly because the residents used to empty their teapots into the canal.

Looking towards Possett Bridge, near the Navigation Inn in Marple, from Lock 12, Black Wharf Lock. Black Wharf and Moult's timber yard were on the left. An arm serving Hollins Mill led off to the right. Examination of the towpath edge shows where the entrance to this arm was.

Turflea Lift Bridge near Strines. There are three such windlass-operated lift bridges along the Upper Peak Forest Canal, all of which replaced swing bridges.

Thought i would have a bit of a change with this one, the painting is fictitious and could be anywhere you would like it to be. It shows a working narrow boat making its way through w wooded section of canal on a hot sumers day, not getting much of thoughs just now !! lol.

Well , sorry for not getting new paintings on the blog at the moment but still working hard , again LOL.

Been very busy with things this past week , i am working on a painting of the Monmouth & brecon Canal so hpoefully this should be ready this weekend fingers crossed.

The Guild of Waterways Artists are now working very hard on a new and updated website so should be more user friendly when all put together so why not call in and see what the Guild is all about.

 I thought i would give it a face lift to make it more like a sunny day and also bit  brighter. So, that said you will see two dates on the back of the painting , the old / first date is at the bottom right and new date of when the whole painting was updated on the top left .

On to Grassington
